ADDITION Study : Anglo-Danish-Dutch study of Intensive Treatment In People with screen detected diabetes in primary care

Overview:

The MRC Epidemiology Unit acts as the central hub for receiveing data requests for any part of the ADDITION study, be that ADDITION-Europe, Cambridge or Plus. The ADDITION Europe partners (Cambridge, Leicester, Holland and Denmark) have all agreed that any data listed in the associated data dictionary that is approved for release will be provided through the MRC Epidemiology Unit. However for example the "Addition Denmark" data is also available from the Danish partners and this may include additional "Addition Denmark" data not available through this portal.

Commuting and Health in Cambridge

Overview:

The Commuting and Health in Cambridge study is a quasi-experimental cohort study of commuters that aims to assess the magnitude, nature and population distribution of changes in the travel behaviour of commuters who travel to work in Cambridge associated with the opening of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway in 2011. It additionally seeks to identify, explore and explain the wider health impacts of any observed changes in travel behaviour, specifically in terms of changes in overall physical activity, wellbeing, sickness absence, and carbon emissions.

iConnect Study

Overview:

iConnect is a quasi-experimental cohort study of the travel, physical activity and carbon impacts of Connect2, a UK-wide programme of constructing new walking and cycling routes in local areas, conducted as part of an interdisciplinary research consortium. Fenland Study

Overview:

The Fenland study is a quantitative trait metabolic study of >12,000 people designed to study the interaction between environment and genetic factors in determining intermediate quantitative traits related to obesity and type 2 diabetes risk including measures of insulin sensitivity and hyperglycaemia. Speedy Study

Overview:

SPEEDY - Sport, Physical activity and Eating behaviour: Environmental Determinants in Young people. The SPEEDY study looks at physical activity and diet in over 2000 children in Norfolk. This study aims to improve our understanding of current patterns of diet and physical activity among children. It is hoped that this will identify specific factors which are associated with diet and physical activity. This information can then be used to help design interventions and policies that promote increased physical activity and healthy eating in children.

Traffic and Health in Glasgow study

Overview:

The Traffic and Health in Glasgow study (also known as the M74 study) is a quasi-experimental study of changes to the urban environment consequent on motorway construction in deprived neighbourhoods in Glasgow. It is a mixed-method study, using a combination of quantitative (longitudinal and cross-sectional) and qualitative research methods to evaluate both individual- and population-level changes in health and health-related behaviour and to develop an in-depth understanding of how these changes are experienced and brought about.
